2018: A Year of Anniversaries

2018 will be 50 years since the signing of the Civil Rights Act and 100 years since the end of World War I.
Here's hoping for another big milestone of peace and progress this coming year.

Meat Fleet Fishing

Here is my logo design for a local bass fishing team. It is inspired by the ancient Egyptian Ouroboros, the icon of a serpent eating its own tail.
Ouroboros symbolize introspection and eternal cyclicality, which I think connects pretty well to fishing.

Wedding Gift Painting

Man with Painting. Darrel Perkins. Oil on Panel. 2017. 16x20"

Firstly, congratulations to my two friends John and Sarah for getting married. Now, a little backstory here:

When John and I were college roommates, he bought a piano painting I did as an undergrad. After I moved out, another roommate accidentally took it with him,
and it ended up with his dad, who loved it and swore John would never see it again. As a wedding gift, John wanted his piano painting back, and rightfully so.
However, I decided to paint our roommate's dad enjoying a glass of wine in front of his art collection.

Cheers, John!
