500 Year Anniversary of Hieronymus Bosch's Death

Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch passed away five hundred years ago today.
His twisted and imaginative depictions of heaven and hell are unrivaled throughout art history.
Today is a good day to celebrate the popular weirdo and his most famous work,
The Garden of Earthly Delights, although I recommend staying away from any loyal recreations.

Viennese Color Woodcuts

The Schirn, an exhibition hall in Frankfurt, Germany, has some great coverage of the amazing color woodcut prints being made in Vienna
at the turn of the twentieth century. If you can't make it to their exhibition in person, they do a great job presenting it on their website.

Illustration Exercise

A writer friend was over recently and we decided to make a game of exchanging text with painting.
I was given the following poem, which I interpreted as the above quick illustration.

"With rolling clouds and murmuring pools,
summer caressed over spring,
just as quiet as breath drawn in,
just as unnoticeable."

Courtship

Courtship. Darrel Perkins. Linocut. 2016. 5x7"
I got to witness an adorable young courtship at a wedding last weekend and felt compelled to commemorate it with a print.
